President-Elect Barack Obama is reportedly receiving a classified intelligence briefing today. These PDB’s (Presidential Daily Briefings) will soon become a routine focus informing Obama on the current state of the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan, the national security threat domestically and abroad and other top secret intelligence information about allies and enemies.
While this briefing is being widely reported as Obama assembles his transition team, what has not been mentioned is how this one step dispels the “apparent” concern that was displayed in the McCain/Palin campaign regarding Obama’s associations.
As blogged here earlier, the innuendo that Obama “pals around with terrorists” as Palin charged in reference to Bill Ayers, or his possible association with Rashid Khalidi somehow linked him with the PLO doesn’t add up. Obama has been vetted by the U.S. Intelligence Agencies long before he was elected the first African American President of the United States.
The fact that war hero and Senator John McCain sits silently today as Obama receives top secret classified information pertinent to the security of the U.S. is indication that McCain had no real worries about any of Obama’s associations and thus was using fear (terrorist tactics) against the U.S. electorate in an attempt to win the Presidency.
While Obama is calling for Americans to rise up and work together, to face challenges head-on, McCain and the Republican party still depend on divisiveness and fear mongering to push their agendas.
Perhaps America is tired of being afraid, tired of relinquishing their lives to the threat of terrorism and perhaps that is why they answered Obama’s call for Hope & Change.
